Royal Piece - Shahi Tukra

Royal Piece is round crisp fried golden brown-colored piece of bread dipped in sugar syrup and garnished with almond's.

My recipe of Royal piece is little different from Shahi Tukra which is essentially prepared with bread and a thick milk-based sauce that is rabdi.

Required

✔For Frying

✒Bread slices 7-8 slices
✒Ghee or oil 100-150 ml

✔For sugar syrup

✒Sugar 60-70 gms
✒Green Cardamom 4-5

*Sugar and water proportion should be 2:1

That is for 60gms sugar we will take 30ml water.

✔For Garnish
✒Almonds 10-12

Action

Step 1: cut the bread slice

Cut the bread pieces in round shape or into long triangular pieces.

Step 2: Frying

Heat the ghee on a medium flame. Deep fry the pieces of bread in it till they are crisp and golden. Drain on paper towels.

Step 3 Make sugar syrup

Mix the sugar and water in a heavy-bottomed pan and set up to boil, on a medium flame.

When the sugar is all dissolved, allow to boil some more. Check the consistency, we need one thread consistency.

One-thread consistency means when your forefinger and your thumb are pulled apart gently and single thread is formed.

After that add powdered cardamom.

Step 4: Soaking of bread slices in sugar syrup

Dip the bread slices one by one in sugar syrup, if you want crisp slices, don't soak for long, remove within 10-15 seconds in serving try.

Step 5: Garnish

In serving dish, arrange the bread slices, garnish the dish with your choice of nuts or with almonds. serve hot or chilled. Though traditionally it is served at room temperature, the dessert can also be enjoyed chilled.
